Mission Statement

We are dedicated to the Preservation and Presentation of the Black Masking Indian Tradition of New Orleans, strengthening the role of Queens and the mentoring of young girls and Queens.

                             "Won't Bow Down,

...Don't Know How!"

The practice of "Masking Indian has been observed as far back as the late 1700s in New Orleans. The documented appears of Indians was usually on Mardi Gras Day. Historically, slavery and racism were at the root of the cultural separation; Blacks were simply forbidden to celebrate Mardi Gras with the Europeans or whites.
